HANDWRITING FONTS

As part of my research into handwriting I decided to research into some available fonts online. I took these from the website 1001freefonts.com. So as the name says they are completely free to download, I searched for fonts styled under the category handwriting and picked these out.

Some are good and seem like genuine handwriting to me whereas others I can't help think just look cheap and tacky.

I decided not to download all of the fonts to save time but luckily the site have a 'Custom Preview' so I could just enter in 'handwriting' to view exactly how the font would look.

Some of my favourites, well ones I see as quite real, include:

Aenigma scrawl,
Dad hand,
Rabio head,
Irezumi,
and Greg's other hand.

By researching into all of these fonts it shows how there are a huge number of these fonts out on the internet already and a lot of people are dealing with looking at handwriting and turning it completely digital which can therefore be printed, which completely takes away from the personality and style of the individual who before the digital age would have no choice but to only use their hand. It's quite interesting how it does detract from the individual yet gives the user so much more choice and to what font they use and they let it represent them.

  1. There's another from that site called "A year without rain" which look very realistic as well.

  2. Dafont.com is a site where you can download a ton of free fonts. You can search for a specific typeface, or search by the type of lettering you want, whether it’s serif or sans serif, hand lettered or grunge style. You can also put in your own phrase to see how it looks in a particular font. A lot of these fonts are very decorative and many are handdrawn, so it’s not always the best place to search for body text fonts. Each selection also tells you whether your download is free for personal or commercial use. The download is easy – you get a zip file with the font file inside. Unzip, install, and you’re ready to go.

  6. Hi there! The smaller font under each word tells the actual name of the font. The "sparkling" one is called Sweet Pea font and the link is: http://www.dafont.com/sweet-pea.font
