Experimenal Jetset were approached in order to design the packaging and promotion for the limited edition Blu-Ray release of the Helvetica Documentary by Gary Hustwit. The concept behind the design is really strong as it depicts how Blu-Ray is just the current in format and will soon become obsolete like any format. Therefore just like a record sleeve, the design for the Blu-Ray disc mimics for the packaging for the a 12" LP.
The idea of the record relates strongly again in a different way, Gary Hustwit, when first meeting those at Experimental Jetset described the film as a 'rock documentary' but about a typeface.
This strong concept has without doubt led to a really good outcome, and is instantly recognisable as a record sleeve, and integrated the type within it really effectively as well. Broken and separated, the type is still clear to the user- anyone purchasing this would already know what it was about and because of that makes it work really well because of its subtlety and doesn't need to be in your face.
