AMERICAN PYSCHO

Looking to find previous book design covers for the transgressive novels I am planning on redesigning. Found on a students website from the US. I actually really like the design, the simplicity of it, the image works really well with the colours of the whole book but the image isn't something that interests me.

A very early design for the novel, with this estranged painting. The type is clear and contrasts the mage as it sits at the top. The design seems very dated looking at it now, and I feel the type isn't as communicative as it could be.

Full bleed portrait of Bateman, with type filling the page. I like the choice of typeface and the layout of it, covering the photo, the book cover has impact. Found on the book covers archive can see it was designed by The Lloyd Ziff Design Group.

Design that wants to communicate the coldness behind the book, the mannequin representing Batemans detachment and isolation, but of course with the idea of violence too. The type works, it seems cold and crisp, to the point and playing on the energy of the novel with the N, cutting into the P from Pyscho.
